The booths of two Chinese companies appearing at the Specialty Equipment Market Association convention and six others at the nearby Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo have been shut down after raids conducted by federal marshals.

Authorities indicate the investigation took place following an emergency lawsuit filed by aftermarket Jeep parts manufacturer Omix-ADA alleged that the Chinese companies were offering counterfeit versions of a number of its products, including bumpers, grilles and hood latches. Omix, which maintains that it is the "world's largest independent manufacturer and wholesaler of Jeep parts and accessories," says that inferior knock-offs of its products have been available online through sites like Amazon and Ebay for a number of years.
